We are already off to an excellent 2016! The big news at CCBA headquarters is the addition of four distinguished attorneys to our Board of Governors:
· Nina Hong, of Pachulski Stang Ziehl & Jones
· Liz Profumo, of D’Alessio Law Group
· Rahsaana Allen, of Sklar Kirsh, LLP
· Stefan O’Grady, of Rich, Intelisano & Katz, LLP
Welcome and thank you to all. The Board is already benefitting from your energy and enthusiasm.
In January, we kicked things off with our Elevator Series MCLE presentation. Hosted by Greenberg Glusker, LLP and our esteemed Treasurer-elect, Lori Werderitch, this year’s program featured the Honorable David Cunningham, III, of the Los Angeles Superior Court, speaking on Elimination of Bias; and William K. Mills, of Parker Mills LLP, speaking on Legal Ethics. A good time, and hard-to-get special topics credits, were had by all.
February 18 was bittersweet. Over 30 attorneys turned out for the first Century City at the Bar Mixer of the year. We drew a perfect L.A. February evening. Our sponsor, Union Bank, provided delicious hors d’ouevres. Attorneys connected. Sadly, however, the evening marked CCBA’s farewell to X Bar, which, along with the Century Plaza Hotel, is slated for closure and remodeling starting next month.
On March 30, we reconvene for CCBA’s 48th Annual Installation & Awards Banquet. This year, we honor six of Century City’s top attorneys, including five Lawyers of the Year, and for the first time, a Next Generation Lawyer of the Year. Sponsorships, ad opportunities, tables and individual tickets are on sale now on our website. Seating is limited. The Banquet is the event of the year for Century City attorneys, and historically a sellout. Don’t be left out!
Events in the months ahead include:
· Dean Erwin Chemerinsky’s Annual Update on Constitutional Law on 8/15/16
· Professor David Nimmer, on New Developments in Copyright Law on 5/26/16
· CCBA’s 3rd Annual Poker Night
· MCLE panel presentation
· Century City at the Bar networking mixers
We will be sure to keep you posted!
All the best,
